Audition Requirements

All musicians should have one prepared solo selection of their choosing.
Be prepared to play as many of these requirements as possible.
All scales and arpeggios should be played in the Florida All-State pattern at a minimum tempo of quarter note = 80 beats per minute unless otherwise indicated.

Violin
• Two octave major scales and appeggios in D and C
• Three octave major scales and arpeggios in G, Ab, and A

Viola
• Three octave major scales and arpeggios in C, D, and Eb
• Two octave major scales and arpeggios in Bb and G

Cello
• Three octave major scales and arpeggios in C, D, and Eb
• Two octave major scales and arpeggios in Bb and G

String Bass
• Two octave major scales and arpeggios in E and F
• One octave major scales and arpeggios in A, G, and Bb major

Oboe
• One octave major scales and arpeggios in F, G, D, Eb, A, Bb
• Two octave major scale and arpeggio in C
• Two octave chromatic scale in C

Piccolo
• Two octave major scales and arpeggios in C, G, D, F and E-flat
• Two octave chromatic scale from E in 16th notes at a minimum tempo of quarter note = 80 beats per minute

Flute
• Two octave major scales and arpeggios in C, G, D, F and E-flat (Tongued ascending, slurred descending)
• Two octave chromatic scale from C in 16th notes at a minimum tempo of quarter note = 80 beats per minute
• Page 50, #2 from Rubank Advanced Method, Volume 2 at quarter note = 112 beats per minute

Clarinet
• Three 2 octave major scales and arpeggios selected from the following major keys: C, G, D, F, A, B-flat and E-flat (Tongued ascending, slurred descending)
• Three octave (if possible) or 2 octave chromatic scale from E in 16th notes at a min. tempo of quarter note = 60 beats per minute
• Page 34, #12 from Rubank Advanced Method, Volume 2. Top part, 1st four lines only at quarter note = 72 beats per minute

Basson
• Three 2 octave major scales and arpeggios selected from the following major keys: C, D, B-flat and E-flat (Tongued ascending, slurred descending)
• Two octave chromatic scale from B-flat in 8th notes at a minimum tempo of quarter note = 80 beats per minute

Trumpet
• Three 2 octave major scales and arpeggios selected from the following major keys: C, F, G, D, B-flat (Tongued ascending, slurred descending)
• Two octave chromatic scale from C in 8th notes at a minimum tempo of quarter note = 80 beats per minute

French Horn
• Three 2 octave major scales and arpeggios selected from the following major keys: C, F, G, D, B, A (Tongued ascending, slurred descending)
